About Lowell Wilson

Lowell Wilson holds a B.S. in Professional Computer Studies from Pace University in New York City. A New Yorker by birth, he currently resides in a suburb north of Tampa, Florida, with his wife and daughter. He spends his recreational time collecting and selling vintage paper, mostly paperbacks and digests, for which he spends an inordinate amount time analyzing who painted the glorious covers from the golden age (1939-1960) of vintage paperback art.

Lowell is the author of "The Art of Raymond Johnson" a comprehensive biography and checklist of the works of Raymond Johnson, a pioneer in the genre of "Good Girl" cover art in the paperback field from the 1940's through the 1960's which was published in Illustration Magazine No. 77 in August 2022. This lengthy article was the first biographical work on the artist, whose work was well known to collectors but whose life was previously undocumented.

A Peanuts fan since infancy, Lowell has collected all of the Rinhart & Co. and Holt, Rinehart, Winston, Inc. softcover "Full Books" published between 1952 and 1974. Seeing the confusion on the internet and in the marketplace about what constituted true first printings of the various Peanuts books, he embarked on this current project as he was winding down his Johnson research in 2022 and has brought the effort forward to publication now in 2024.
